So you know I bought that new case, and video card and then that sweet LCD fan controller? Well Finals are next week, and I have a ton of rendering and computer work to do, but what could go wrong right?
Ok well it arrives tuesday, I install everything. and I start it up and get error on my lcd 1D (which meanss anything from memory to PSU), so i test ram, and its fine. But i hear this hum noise, so I take it out of the case. Still 1D So it has to be PSU? ok. So i go and buy a new Power supply, only place open was a bestbuy 45 mnutes away that had the PSU I needed.
I Plug it in, and start up the motherboard, now i'm getting FF (which if itss instant, means major hardware malfunction) So i take out the mboard, and place it on mty desk, same error. Put everything into my old 680 i SLI mboard. and just getting - -. Which means no activity. And I'm thinking hrm, maybe its the motherboard, so today i went and bought a XFX 780iSLi mboard, for 234 dollars.
Start it up, and NOTHING. Same Error. So i go back and get a CPU, Q9550 , for 374 dollars.
Start it up, IT WORKS! I put it in the case, and get 1D....
WTF?
Then i Realize its the CASE, something is causing the hum from the case, and sending a neg signal back to the PSU. So i rescrew everything and it works this time. Go figure.
Now its booting up, and everything is running slow. Taking forever to read my harddrives. Turns out the harddrive that is stil IDE, and has all my school work from the past 2 1/2 years is having trouble working. I Finally get into Windows and it crashes. Get back in, and no bootmanager. So now i'm sitting waiting for windows to reinstall. and HOPING that, that IDE harddrive is still working.
Oh Did i mention? the BIos is old so it won't detect my 260 GTX video card, so i'm running on the 8800GTS atm until i can flash the bios.
yeah for me....
