View Full Version : BFBC2 game mode
I would like to note also before you vote that you can choose multiple options if you want. Not just one.
I understand that we have some individuals that would like to keep the server the way it is and some that want to have it HC.
Ill set up a poll for this and majority will win. If it seems to be split 50/50 and there is enough interest we could look at getting a second server.
I know for one that I would also like to be competitive. There is just something about going 15 v 15 match that excites me.
A couple of things to keep in mind for keeping the server in regular mode.
No one has reached 50 so we do not know the kind of dmg we can do
competitive mode will be more popular most likely
you have to empty a whole clip into someone to kill them, unless it is a headshot so get good.
For the HC fans:
Fucking A it takes some skill to shoot without the cross hairs
It cuts out the crabby little 13 yr olds. No offense hubwub.

3 issues
1. People may not even pay for this server
2. We already have issues getting our other servers even paid
3. HC prob won't have as big of a popular run as regular mode does
also point everyone who plays bc2 to the forums to vote ski

First day we made rank 1 :) there are 7 others in rank 1 with us right now. And there is ruffly 1150 Public servers up on gametracker! Also note we had the most people playing in our server when it was normal mode.
However, I'm not paying for the server so like ski is doing, its really up to voters interest.

Every hc server I played in during the beta was packed. I don't remember ever seeing you in a hc server with the majority of us Food.
For the server payment issue I'm not worried. This game rocks and 60 bucks a month for a good server is nothin but a credit card payment. If people like this game then anyone who plays can save that 5 dollars they spend on Twinkies and donate.
If we have a roster of 15 active players that is only 4.25 a person per month. Not hard if you think about it. For those that have shitty jobs it understandable.
For those worried about HC not bringing enough attention to the server i understand and that is why we would look at getting a second if the 1st stays popular. (This is where NFO would see that we stay #1 and show their server is awesome and bring in people to buy from them and we get a discount.) I believe everyone wants a fun server to play and that is why I posted this poll.
Not everyone is going to be happy but 3/4 of you are going to be.

I think most of us agree that we'd love to have both, hud with the increased damage. But I'd personally give up the HUD for increased damage.
so far, the only donations we have received for this server are for those who want to keep it hardcore
1st Month : Allen ($66)
2nd Month So Far : BMB ($20)

LOL!
I'll work on a server banner, something quick for now. Probably rip off my shirt template.
As far as regular mode making you better at Hardcore, I found sort of two sides to that. When we played CoD4 originally we liked HxC mode (that's what I was told to play haha), hell we did really well in TWL (lol), but it was all about camping and stealth. Always running dead silence and using G3s. It was more like chess and was about out-smarting the other team or spamming through walls at it's worst. When we went to regular mode the skill increase was insane. We learned more in one month than our entire time of playing in "Expert League". However when we went back to hardcore, we could shoot and rush like beasts, but we got owned by wall spamming and camping some times. Thing is COD4 is also a run and gun kind of game, as opposed to BC2.
My point is that for the sake of argument, I won't be lame and say we should have it in regular because hardcore is for bad kids (though I really want to say that).
If you look at the # of hardcore servers in Cod4, or MW2, it's regular almost 5 to 1 in cod4 and something like 8 to 1 in MW2.
I don't remember who all was playing with us last night, but I wanted to play on a regular server and by the end of the night I know it seemed like everyone playing BC2 in vent ended up in the regular server. My point here is that we seem to be split down the middle for what people prefer.
Bottom line is that it comes down to who is paying for the server, my only concern is that I don't want to donate 20 dollars for a server I won't like. I honestly doubt we can keep two servers worth populating. It's not just the damage that I don't like in hardcore, and if it's basically regular with increased damage, that might be fun for a pub. As far as competition, are they going to have hardcore competition (we know TWL probably will haha)??
A lot to think about, i'm cool with w/e. If it's a regular pub I'll donate 10 or more dollars a month. But If it's hardcore I'm fine I'll find other servers to play on and occassionally in ours. I don't mind either way.

Bad Ozzy.....we are in 2010 not 1999
Izual until you buy the game you cant vote lol. But it goes to show basically no one gives a fuck about which side it is. Im with allen on we should probably just trade it off.
Why don't we set it to rush or something else? They are far more fun then conquest.

i'll prolly get it after my new computer comes in..... but my opinion is the same as Ozzy's. ^^
I think a regular server that switched between conquest and rush would be the funnestest!

problem is, you can't do a rotation like you could in cod4 loki. Your set on the mode, the only way to switch modes is a restart of the server. its really annoying :/
Lets make this weekend an Official Rush Weekend. Next weekend will be conquest if everyone is open to that.
ORW Everyone woot!!!!!!!!

I think it will be hard to build get regulars coming in if we are rotating the modes constantly.

if we can promote people to come to the website maybe changing the game mode every week wouldn't be a bad thing. If you can sort of build a community around it.

and i like the banner. FOOD !! add it to the server
I much, much prefer regular. Yes the bullet damage is a bit low, but it makes the game less defensive and boring. You're allowed to roam around just a bit more, and survive ambushes if you're quick and smart enough. My primary complaint about hardcore mode is that there's no room to improvise - it rewards you for spotting someone first, and interesting firefights don't happen nearly as often.
There's also the HUD. Medic is my main class, and having no HUD is annoying as hell. I have to keep hitting Tab to see where dead teammates are, and even then, I can't see the death icon on the battlefield when a corpse was thrown away from its original location. Not being able to see how much ammo you have is retarded too, as if a soldier in real life has no way of checking. Ditto with vehicle health (unless you're repairing as an engineer).
I know 2-shot kills suck compared to 1-shot kills for snipers, but doesn't it seem like a reasonable compromise for being able to shoot someone from a mile away with impunity? Anyway, tagging someone at least gives your teammates a much easier chance of finishing them off (protip: you can get spot assist points on top of that too... as sniper, mash Q on everyone you see), and you'll get a nice point bonus for a critical assist even if you don't deliver the fatal shot.
Hardcore sucks for Medics but is great for Snipers. I'll play whatever the server is on, but I vote regular.

This ^^ cept that hardcore is not great for snipers. It takes all the sport out of it. I go for headshots and my accurracy sometimes pays off. People like f00d go for the two shot kill and their conservitive playing sometimes pays off. So I hate that I can get a kill if I tag your foot or shin or something, that's not that fun to me.
Ok so all the last few times i've played I didn't touch scope at all, and even with the starting guns, I don't think it's too hard to kill someone. As long as the reg is decent (like any game it isn't perfect) you can take someone down fairly quick.

while i do hate the damage setup, i think it's only a matter of time before we can make a "hybrid" server setup. so I'm leaning towards leaving it on regular mode until we can make changes
the server is still full from last night, it would be pretty stupid if we change it.
Also the respawn timers for other rush servers is around 6-7 seconds, ours is 12.
f00d4tehg0dz
03-07-2010, 03:27 PM
huh loki? I don't have a 12 second respawn.... I spawn in 5-6 ish seconds. Never 12. Unless I die several times in a row, then my respawn is longer
Also we don't have public server files, no one does, so you can't even edit things like that. We get a little interface that lets us change the name of the server, the mode, and maps for that mode, and then killcam, friendly fire, 3rd person vehicle, hardcore, and 3d spotting, minimap, and 3d spotting minimap. Thats all we get, I'm sure one day they will release the server files, but for now we can't do anything.

Hrmm, medic guns were raping, no need for extra damage. And from what I've seen the assault rifles are even more deadly.

Yeah i think we'll leave it the way it is for now. I think everyone seems to be having a good time in our server.
Donations for April server rental:
$20 - BMB
$20 - PMP
$15 - Smokey
Remember this goes into an account at NFO. So hopefully everyone can chip in and then people would only need to donate every 2-3 months.
